"What I have learnt during the cooperative education period is not only the theory and general knowledge, I also learnt about social skill, how to work with other people as well as how to adapt myself to the new environment"

Suggestion

I would suggest that the semester of cooperative education should be moved to last semester of senior year in ABAC so that the students who really enjoy working at the company will be able to keep working at the same company. Plus, the mentors and teachers should contact each other more often in order to understand the behavior and the problem of the cooperative education student. I really realized that there would be more companies for students next semester in order to provide more variety of jobs and options. Furthermore, this program is very good for the students, it provide us things that cannot be found anywhere else like memorable experience, good memory, knowledge and importantly a chance to listen the attitude of CEO for each company which is very valuable for our future. Hence, I hope that our major will keep rising the standard of our cooperative education as well as develop the program further in advance. I do not know the information about other companies but I could proudly say that SrithaiSuperware Pubic Company is the best company I have ever seen. I feel like I am the luckiest student who got to work with Mr. SananAngubolkul. I have been allowed to have a exclusive meeting with the directors of SrithaiSuperware Pubic Company to get the vision and the attitude of them for improving myself. I would say that I could not ask for more. The work is exceeding my expectation. Eventually, I would sincerely say thank you to all of the teachers who provide me a really course and all of knowledge. Also, thank you to all of the officials in SrithaiSuperware Pubic Company who always stay beside and help me when lots of problem came to my working life. I feel that the hardest part of being a trainee at Srithaisuperware is to leave without tears.

Project

For the cooperative education program, I was assigned to work in several departments but mainly in Export of Melamine product department about 2 months. It is clearly seen the inefficiency workflow in export department which is time-consuming and costly. This problematic issue occurs because of the customer’s misunderstanding. They do not really understand the concept of the melamine products including the limitation and regulation of SrithaiSuperware. This will let all of the functions in export department including Salespeople, Product Coordinators and Document Administrators work repeatedly over and over again in workflow. So, I was a volunteer for them to help solving this kind of problematic issue during my journal of working life.

In order to solve this kind of problems, I suppose to learn the workflow process and the role of each function in the export department. I found that collecting data is a success key for solving. I spent a lot of time to collect all of the necessary data in order to figure out what wrong in the process. I have firstly grouped the problem into 2 kinds which are problems that cause by human and the problems that cause by the workflow. After analysis for a while, I figured out that it is extremely difficult to change the perception of the human being and it requires a really long time to spend with.

Hence, I start working on improving the workflow of the export department. Trying to cut some of stage in workflow and see the consequence. I followed the trial and error method. With the limited time, I created some new model that I think it can be useful to export department for the further innovation and this report will let the reader know about the cause of the problems, the solution and the development and my suggestion to the company from the cooperative education student who spent so much time in the project.

Experience Sharing

At the beginning of the cooperative education period, I always wonder about “How is the working life at office”. I am kind of people who are afraid of something I do not know. I do not like to face the new things with new environment. I firstly thought that the working life might be very boring.

Fortunately, I got to work at Srithai Superware Pubic Company. I have Mr.Somsong Raksapol as my mentor at Srithai Superware Pubic Company. He is kind but really strict about the rule.  In my opinion, Srithai Superware Pubic Company is the special company that provide the job rotating to the trainee so that I have a great opportunity to work at several department during my cooperative education period. As I have mentioned before, I was very nervous at the first day so the first thing I learn is how to adapt myself to the new environment. From day by day, I have learnt so many things unconsciously through the process of obvious as well as trial and error. I try to learn as much as I could in each department but the climax would be when I stayed at Export Department. I have to study a whole process of workflow in order to do my project including the process of producing dinnerware, the difference between melamine and plastic, to name a few. I suppose to collect the necessary data and information for analyzing in advance. It is said that “To be successful, the first thing to do is to fall in love with your work” and I proved that it is true.

I just found myself that I am enthusiastic and fast learner. I know that my mentors and all other officials are very busy at their work so I try to remember all of the knowledge they taught at once. I believe that learning by doing is the best way to study and learn for the new things. During the working time, I always have my little notebook for writing every single new thing down. After a couple of week, I can understand most of the workflow very well. Importantly, what I have learnt during the cooperative education period is not only the theory and general knowledge, I also learnt about social skill, how to work with other people as well as how to adapt myself to the new environment. In addition, I have got a chance to go setting up the booth at BITEC BANG NA(Bangkok International Gift and Bangkok International Household ware) so I learnt how to make a attractive booth to the customer.

In the past, I was very nervous when I have to do the presentation in front of a lot of people in classroom. During 4 months of cooperative education period, I suppose to present the progress of my project “Improve the workflow efficiency of OEM products in Export department, Srithai Superware Public Company” every two weeks to everyone in the Export Department including salespeople, product coordinators, and document administrators. Hence, I personally think that I have improved my presentation skill after all.
